Got Rid Of A Pen That Wasn't Working Anymore

I know my posts here have been "hit and miss" at best. Unfortunately, there's not a lot I have that has been fully used up lately. (I do have some lotion that I have been using that seems to be coming close to running out, though.)

Anyway, I had a pen sitting around my room for a while. There were times when I would try to use it, and I couldn't because it didn't have any ink. So, I've thrown it away. But that's okay. I can find other things to write with.

Used Up Another Perfume

Sometime yesterday, I used up a perfume that I had for quite some time called "Incognito." It was perfume number 2 out of a three pack of ones that came in small bottles.

The next one I will be trying to use up is called "Heaven Scent".

Unrelated Announcement

I haven't fully used up or worn out anything lately, I'm afraid. I have, however, found various pieces of trash, including old bulletins to dispose of.

The real reason I'm posting this time is to let anybody who appears here know of my upcoming miniseries of posts, Miss Scissors: Reading is the Key, which will premiere tomorrow on RAB-PIA. If I'm lucky enough, I'll be able to get through some books on my reading list that I can pass along for someone else to enjoy.

Donated Some More Clothes

I had gone through some clothes last week to see what fit and what didn't. Some of the sleeves were to long or too loose on me for how they were made. So, said clothing has been donated to the Salvation Army. I'm down to one or two bins of sweaters now.

Donated Some Clothes

As much as I have tried to hold onto clothing that comes into my wardrobe until it wears out, I was told this weekend that I'd need to pare down a bit in order to help free up the bins used to hold them over the summer and thus free up space in my room.

I had some sweaters that had been up for elimination at the thrift store where I volunteer that some then colleagues had held onto for me in case I wanted them. I took them home and later sent them to storage for the season. I regained access to them this past weekend. There were three bins of them.

The ones I eliminated today were mainly ones that would maybe be okay on one of my grandmas but would be too "old" to be appropriate for me. I'd donate them at the store I volunteer at, but to say that space has gotten tight on us would be in understatement. So, I donated them to the local branch of the Salvation Army.

I went through the sweaters remaining even more today. I currently have a bag filled with sweaters, a jacket, and at least one sweatshirt that turned out to be too big for me. Those will be the next to go, but I'll still have plenty of what's left to incorporate into various outfits throughout the fall and winter.

Finally Used Up A Perfume

This morning, I used up the last of a small perfume called "California" and have disposed of its respective container.  The next one I will concentrate on using up is called "Incognito".

One Perfume Almost Out

I have been using a perfume lately called "California" which is in a small bottle. If I remember correctly, I got this in a set of three small perfumes for Christmas a long time ago but hadn't had much cause to use.

It'll probably be tomorrow or Saturday before I use it all up. Then, I can throw out the container, and it'll be one less thing I have to worry about hauling around.

Down Another Pair Of Socks

I had a pair of thick red socks for quite some time. One of them wore out in the whole, so they're gone now.

Down A Shirt As Of Today

A blue secondhand long-sleeved shirt that I've had since earlier this year turned out to have a couple of holes in it, so I've retired it. That's okay, though as I still have plenty of shirts to wear out.

One Of My Polishes Has Been Used Up

Sometime last week, I used up one of my nail polishes. It was some shade of pink, which I mostly wore on my fingernails. It was one of the few polishes I would wear on my fingernails at this time as I'm seeking employment and am trying to play it safe on my "look". (The bolder polishes I wear on my toenails if I wear them at all.)

So now, I wear a light shade of brown on my fingernails. (I might switch to bolder polishes once I have a job where I know what's okay.)

Took Stuff To Be Recycled

Today, I took some newspapers that I had accumulated over to the college campus recycling bins. That'll be less space taken up in my room as well as the landfill.

One Pair Of Socks Down As Of Last Night

In the past several weeks, I've had little, if any cause, to wear socks. (Depending on the situation, I might wear pantyhose if even that.) Most of the time I'd wear my blue "at-home" flip-flops or a pair of sandals with nothing underneath.

It's only in the last week or so that the weather has cooled down enough to warrant socks and closed shoes for me (outside of my job search, for which sandals would be a no-no).  Yesterday, along with a pair of sneakers that are overdue for replacement, I wore a pair of socks that were wearing thing. Last night, when I took them off, they turned out to have developed holes in them. So, those socks are gone.

I don't think I have a lot of white socks left, but I at least have socks of some sort that I can wear as the weather cools down.

Retiring Some Clothes

Last week, I threw away a couple of shirts that had holes in them. (If I didn't already have a lot of shirts, I would've held onto them.)  As a rule, as long as a shirt has all of the fabric intact, it stays until it develops a hole or shows signs of wear in say, the collar.

With pants, the rule is they stay until they wear out at the butt or inseam, or the leg in the case of shorts. If a pair of long pants has a hole in the knee, I can cutoff the part of the leg where the hole begins (and the corresponding part of the other leg), and they'd become a pair of shorts.

One of the pairs of shorts that I have is a khaki cargo pair that used to belong to my sister. However, they turned out not to fit her, so she gave them to me. Lately, I've noticed that they're starting to develop a small hole in on of the legs. I think I'm going to have this be the last week that I wear them.(Besides, while the zippper can be closed, it won't stay closed.) Then I'll be down to three pairs of shorts (one of which is a black stretchy pair that started out as long pants until they developed a hole in one knee).  I doubt that I'll wear them all out before it's time to put them away though.

So that's three less garments in my wardrobe. That should make for more space as well as more "wearing" time for other clothes that I have.

Eating Chocolate That I've Had For Over A Year

Over a year ago, I had gotten about three or four boxes of Whitman's chocolate which I kept in a drawer. I had eaten all but one at some point. I'm eating the last box as I write this.

The box had been shrinkwrapped the whole time. It doesn't look like it's in bad shape at all. I doubt all get any posioning from eating it. (I'll let you know if I do.)  After I've eaten the all of the chocolate in the box, I can throw the box away, and it'll be one less thing I'll have sitting around.

Welcome To Project Whitespace

Do you ever find your self accumualting a lot of stuff over time, some of which could be thrown out or is waiting to be used up or worn out? I do.  Sometimes, I feel like it's a stumbling block against my being as organized as I ought to be.

Right now, I have more clothes than I can fit in my dresser, and a lot of it is too intact to get rid of. I also have a lot of lotions, perfumes, nail polishes, eyeshadows, etc. to use up. Very little of it is stuff that I have brought into my possession myself. Rather, it is often a contribution from someone in the family. I also have papers and mail I have collected that I maybe could throw away.

Using up, wearing out, or throwing out stuff of my own to create more "space" in my life is only one part of my "project".

There is also another part. I currently volunteer at one of the thrift stores in my hometown. Sometimes various displays, especially clothing racks and bookshelves, tend to get rather crowded. At various times, I will buy books from there (and any other place that sells used books) to free up shelf space. After that I will register them with Bookcrossing, read them, than release them to some random public place for someone else to find and enjoy.

So there you have it. I will be focusing on using up and wearing out things that I own (as I don't like to get rid of intact clothing or any leftover cosmetics or anything like that) and tossing out needless papers, empty containers, and clothing that has been worn down to the point of having holes and making my life a little more simple...maybe.
